My first makeup purchase from Instagram the Kylie Matte Liquid Lipstick Birthday Edition

Recently picked up this gorgeous looking palette from Instagram and it's a Kylie Jenner lipstick, apparently it's a Birthday Edition (which I'm thinking is limited edition maybe), and has six shades that are all matte.

For some reason, the colours here are not picking up the right shade at all, and they all look pink! In reality though, they are more of browns and nudes, and I will try and shoot all over again in a different natural light setting (these were also in natural light), and will also do the review and swatches for each.

For now, they look gorgeous for sure, and whether or not they are worth the money, I'll come back on that pretty soon.

Enjoy and relax in the weekend.

image - Nike

If you've ever owned or loved a pair of Nike shoes, then here are some super interesting facts you would probably love to read about.

In fact, I didn't know any of this, but thanks to this cool infographic, just found out some very interesting facts...

For instance, did you know that Phil Knight was writing his college papers when he thought of starting a shoe company and that is how the entire Nike story started?

As of 2017, Nike holds a staggering 24.75% of the global athletic footwear market.

According to Forbes, it is the 16th most valuable brand in the world.

And check this - between the years 2014 and 2017, Nike spent more than 100 dollars per second (!) on its marketing and advertising campaigns.

Interesting? HERE ARE MORE facts.

#RuleOutThyroweight I thought I was lazy, till I found out I had thyroid: I lost 30 kgs and won against thyroid

Juhi Chawla at an event talking about Thyroid

#RuleOutThyroweight I thought I was lazy, till I found out I had thyroid: I lost 30 kgs and won against thyroid
As the first month of the year comes to an end, it's also a new start, a time when we take so many resolutions but barely manage to stick to any.

This year, unlike a lot of my past years, I did not have any resolution. In fact, last year too I didn't make any resolution, but told myself I would see how best I could stay fit and healthy. And let's say I managed it.

Health and fitness and all the things you hear about wellness are actually related, and it took me a long time to realize this. But once I did, I realized I was at my healthiest and my fittest best.

I never realized I could be at risk of thyroid. Why would I be? I was young, I had no known health issue, so why would I suddenly get a thyroid disorder?

But unfortunately, 1 in every 10 adults has thyroid problems, and so did I.

That's why, when I found out about this event that would tackle the issues of weight gain and tiredness (also known as Thyroweight),  I knew I wanted to be there.

The event, that was held at a well-known hotel in Mumbai, had Juhi Chawla attend the guest along with experts from the medical field. To the room full of bloggers, Juhi shared about how she has seen people close to her suffer from the disease. Her husband Jay Mehta as well as her father-in-law have both been affected with thyroid disorder, but are leading active and healthy lives because they have made sure to take care of it. Juhi's hair stylist too was suffering from hypothyroidism, but ever since she got regular with her medication, she is back to leading a healthy and happy life.

1 in 10 Indians suffer from a thyroid problem, and in most cases are not even aware of it.

I won over thyroid disorder
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism after my first pregnancy, and my initial signs matched a lot of the signs I have listed above. Also, I was gaining weight fast, and my post-pregnancy weight was not going down, despite my best efforts.

I did take medication, and over a period of about two years, I was strict to follow all the medicines as per medical advice. My thyroid problems did come under control, and I was given a medical go-ahead to plan my second baby, as my thyroid issue was well taken care of by then.

However, I did gain about 30 kgs through my second pregnancy, as my thyroid symptoms came back. After the baby, I got on medication again and started changing my lifestyle. Today, I am 50 kgs from the 80 kgs I had become, and I am at my fittest and healthiest best at 37 years and after 2 babies.

If I have been able to do it, anyone can, and you can, and trust me, anyone can beat thyroid, all you need to do is get yourself checked and follow your medication plan.

Before you panic, here are some myths and facts about thyroid issues

If you are obese and overweight due to thyroid, you cannot lose the weight.
Fact - Thyroid will not cause obesity, but can cause an excess weight gain of up to 10 lbs. Also, excessive weight gain could be due to a lot of other factors. If taken care of, this is easily manageable.

Once you get thyroid problems, it can never be cured
Fact - While your thyroid issue may not go away completely, the fact is that it can easily be managed and kept under control. Also, by taking your medication regularly and the way you have been advised by your doctor, you can actually lead a healthy life.

Me and a colleague at the event

When you have thyroid problems, you will somehow know it
Fact - It can be difficult to immediately spot if you have a thyroid issue or not, as the symptoms can easily be confused with regular everyday symptoms. If you notice a number of the symptoms (check list below) and it happens very often, it could be due to thyroid imbalance.

Taking thyroid medication will get you hooked on for life and can cause side effects
Fact - There has been a vast change in the way thyroid medications work, and in fact, just a single gentle dose a day could keep you absolutely healthy. These medications can help manage various symptoms that are associated with thyroid disorder and will not cause any side effect.

For more information please visit

The big turnout at the event

Spot the symptoms fast
The biggest problem in understanding whether or not you are having a thyroid issue is that most of the symptoms can often be confused with regular lifestyle changes. However, if you often spot any of these and feel this is quite frequent, do check with your doctor
·         sudden and unexplained weight gain or loss without trying to do so
·         always feeling tired even when you are well rested or have slept enough

(The first two are most important and common symptoms, also known as Thyroweight)

·         stress and anxiety
·         feeling confused
·         unable to concentrate
·         being forgetful
·         extreme behaviour changes, such as being too happy and then too depressed
·         irregular periods or missing periods
·         swelling on the face or legs
·         fast heartbeat
·         hair fall
·         constipation or diarrhoea
·         sleep disturbances - sleep too much or can't sleep
·         feeling bloated
·         always feel too hot or too cold and cannot tolerate hot or cold temperatures (depends on what form of thyroid disorder you have)
·         muscular pain
·         increase in cholesterol levels

When taken individually, these symptoms may not necessarily point to a thyroid problem, but if you are experiencing more than one of these symptoms and notice it often, it is important to speak with your doctor about the same.

So what increases your risk?
·         a family history of someone who has suffered from thyroid imbalance
·         women are more prone to have a thyroid disease than men (8 out of 10 women are diagnosed with a thyroid problem)
·         pregnancy
·         iodine deficiency
·         hormonal imbalance, especially if you are also on some form of hormonal therapy
·         both men and women over the age of 50 are at an increased risk
·         if you had thyroid issues earlier that resolved themselves or with very less medical intervention
·         smoking
·         regularly eating vegetables such as broccoli, radish, kale, cauliflower (basically goitrogenic foods)
·         regularly eating large amounts of soy products
·         stress

What are the tests?
The most common test that your doctor will suggest to detect a thyroid problem is the TSH (Thyroid Function Test) test.

In the initial stage, it is best to get the test done every 6 to 8 weeks. Gradually, your doctor may advise you to take it thrice, twice or even once a year, as you get better.
Honestly, the medicine has no side effects, and all it does is to regulate your hormones in such a way that they will stay within the required range. Do speak to your doctor, so that you can easily manage your health, and also be healthy, happy, fit and active! :)

Shouldn't it be mandatory for brands to mention ANIMAL DERIVED PRODUCTS if they use so? #Adamis #Fossil #HiDesign

So today I went bag shopping as I needed to replace a huge black handbag that had come undone - it was already dying, and I was on the lookout for another huge soft black handbag.

I am the type of shopper who does not love brands at all. I do not own any branded handbag, and the ones that I have picked up from all over everywhere are either brands no one has ever heard of or have some ideas copied from other brands.

Today, for a change, I decided to visit some branded handbag stores and see what they had.

So lets see which ones disappointed me.

All the stores I visited were located in Inorbit Mall Vashi, Navi Mumbai

They proudly displayed a PETA board that guaranteed all the products were cruelty free and nothing was derived from animals. - LOVED THIS FACT

I went inside and asked them if they were cruelty free. The person who was there didn't have a clue what I was talking about, which was pretty weird. I repeated the same again and he said, yes madam, all cruelty free. I moved on to touch the bags, but his reaction was still not convincing, so I asked him - "Is this animal leather or synthetic?"
And then he said - "Animal leather mam. But they don't kill the animals. It is only from the animals who have died naturally."
I looked at him and asked him to show me a PETA or other guarantee that they were indeed doing something like this. Nothing! The man had nothing to show.
I handed back the bag and said well, I can't buy any of this disgusting stuff, and walked out.

I asked about whether they had anything that was animal derived and they said No mam, all of this is synthetic. GOOD

One of the worst and SADDEST collection of handbags I ever saw in my life - ughhhh....
And then this man proudly said yes mam, all pure animal leather.
To which I looked at him and said, oh wow, thanks, now I definitely wont buy.

I entered and asked if this was animal leather.
This smug of a man looks at me and tells me oh yes mam, we have ONLY PURE ANIMAL LEATHER things here.
I looked at him and said wow nice, then I am never coming back to your pathetic brand again.
And he gave me a proud look, of how nice it is for him to stand amidst these products.

I was fuming.

I admit I have been a non-vegetarian. I have enjoyed eating meats immensely. But for a long time now I have been kind of off meats.

But I have never used anything that has animal derived ingredients in it, at least never knowingly. Which is why, when I went to these stores and came out after hearing and seeing all this, I was fuming. I was really upset.

Shouldn't it be mandatory to display that the products you sell have animal ingredients in them? Shouldn't they say it clearly displayed in their stores? What if I never asked and got home a bag that was made out of an animal's skin?

Oriflame The One Lip Sensation Vinyl Gel Lip Glosses: All Shades Swatches

It's been some time now that Oriflame launched their amazing range of colours in the form of liquid lipsticks. I had earlier reviewed the Oriflame The One Lip Sensation Vinyl Gel Lip Glosses

Honestly, I am not a lip gloss person at all, and I guess that's why I did not really feel those lip glosses were something I would buy again. But a LOT of people I know have been raving about it and loved it, plus they do have some amazing shades so do check those out too!

The next launch they came out with was the creamy matte version of the vinyl lip gels (yayyy!!!!) and these I must say are to die for.

The colours are super pigmented and very very buildable.

Here are the 7 shades from the Oriflame The One Lip Sensation Matte Mousse range

These were launched at INR 699 but depending on where you buy it from, you can even get it at about 450 bucks....a lot of sales and discounts are also available, so you can keep an eye on, especially as the entire range is really good!

The staying power is quite good too and it lasts easily for up to 3 to 4 hours, though it does start to fade out but in a nice way, without disappearing altogether and does not leave any patches.

If you have dry lips, I would definitely suggest wear a lip balm underneath.

The only problem you might face is that if you have a lot of creases in your lips, it may settle in there, so try and exfoliate first and then apply.

The shades feel super light and actually feels as if you are applying a mousse on your lips! They are really easy to glide on and as they are packaged in a transparent bottle, you can easily pick the shade you want, even when in a rush.

I won't be able to share the names of the shades because sadly, they are printed sooooooooooo small on the lid that it is absolutely impossible to read it. I will jump in straight to the swatches.

The two images below are of the shade i loved the best....loved it....

Do I suggest you try them out?

Absolutely :)

Beauty Is Imperfect, But Think Before You Buy Those Products

I am one of those imperfect souls who believes that beauty is always at its best when it is not perfect.

I love makeup, I love loads of products that are about skincare, wellness, essential oils, hair care and so on, and I have always said so.

But, I am also extremely wary of what I am using, and most of the times I do not spend a lot on any product, as I feel simple home remedies and simpler products and brands can also work as amazingly as brands that are really high end.

The reason I am saying this is...

I am going to come up again with a lot of reviews about various products, including makeup and more. However, I would say that while all of them look really appealing, please do not get carried away and buy only what you really think you would use or need.

I know how easy it is to get tempted with images and reviews, and I for one have many times felt like I want it all....but I have learned how to control those cravings (that's what they are to me at least).

So yes, do read do enjoy do let me know if you like it and yes, if you buy it, do tell me about it too :)

Aqua Twist Herbal Water: 5 Amazing Infused Water Flavours You Need To Try Out Soon!

It's getting hot and if you haven't been drinking enough water, your taste buds are to be blamed. I for one love drinking water, and am always moving around with a bottle of water in my hand.

I am one of those who can't stay without drinking enough water - for me, having about 5 to 8 liters of water a day is absolutely natural. However, of late, I also started making a lot of infused water at home, my favourite flavours being lime, cinnamon, pudina and sweet lime.

The one thing that made me pick up these bottles was the fact that all of this is herbal water and absolutely natural. Also, they have come up with flavours that are so refreshing, especially in the Indian heat, and will cater to a wide range of taste buds.

While drinking infused water is great for your overall health and you can easily make it at home, sometimes, especially when you are on the move, it is more convenient to carry an infused or herbal water that is ready made.

So I decided to give it a try, and here are the 5 flavours that are currently available in the market.

From L-R: Elaichi, Saunf, Cinnamon, Pudina, Mint

Here's what the brand claims

With 100% natural herbal extracts, zero added sugars, zero calorie and zero artificial flavours or sweeteners.

Ingredients: R.O, U.V. Sterilized & Ozonated water, saunf extracts

Price: INR 20 for 250 ml.

Shelf life: Best before 6 months

Reuse and reduce!

One thing I loved about the brand is that it encourages you to reuse and reduce waste and plastic use! So, the bottle is convenient to carry along and you can use it even after the herbal water is over. Here's what the manufacturers say:

This bottle is specially designed for longer application. We welcome you to reuse the Bottle and help our Planet.

I did in fact use it for a couple of months after I finished up the herbal water, and the quality of the bottle remained intact, with no smell or crack. Also, the size and shape makes it really easy to carry in your handbag, small body cross bag and definitely in your college or work backpack!

Health benefits of infused water

Depending on what all you add to the infused water, there are various health benefits of having infused water:

  • Added dose of vitamin C
  • Fiber, potassium and minerals
  • Great taste that makes you want to drink more, and stay hydrated
  • Better metabolism
  • Helps reduce and manage weight
  • Reduces the urge to drink colas and aerated beverages

My favourite flavours?

I loved all the flavours and they are actually really refreshing, it feels as if you have the real ingredient right there in the bottle. But my most favourite were definitely the pudina and cinnamon ones!

If you haven't tried it out yet, I would say give it a shot. With all these delicious flavours to choose from, you are bound to have at least one that will become a sure favourite!

Oriflame The One Lip Sensation Vinyl Gel Lip Glosses #Oriflame #TheOne #LipSensation #VinylGel Lip Glosses - All 7 Shades Swatches

So a few months back, pretty recently though, Oriflame came out with a new range of lip colours. Called The ONE Lip Sensation Vinyl Gel, these are highly pigmented and glossy lip colours that come in a liquid form.

The range comes in super shiny gloss, which is the ones I have and will swatch here, and also a matte range (I am yet to try those out).

Here I am, with all the 7 shades in their cute packaging. The cardboard packaging mentions the shade name and the price.

They are priced at INR 699 for 5 ml of product. Let me tell you that the lip glosses are reallyyy tiny, but yes, they are also SUPER PIGMENTED. All the swatches you will see below are just one swipe of colour.

Here are the 7 shades (from L to R):

  1. Tangerine Tango
  2. Malibu Blush
  3. Sunset Burst
  4. Pink Mambo
  5. Hot Flamingo
  6. Magnetic Magenta
  7. Purple Rumba

All the swatches shown below are in the order of shades mentioned in this image:

The colours are very buildable and not sheer, as you can see in the images below. However, the one problem I have with this entire range is that, unfortunately for me at least (I don't know whether others like this feature or not), ALL the colours in this range are SUPER STICKY. This is the only one problem I have with this range and the only one thing that I absolutely do not like and wish Oriflame will take note of in future.

The colours are so sticky that you can't speak without your lips sticking together, and yes, that irritating thing about your hair coming and sticking on your lips!!!! :(

A fun thing I noticed is that for each shade, you get a different flavour and taste on your lips. The colours do not suddenly fade away, nor do they leave a smudge or tint as they vanish off. However, they fade away evenly and without creating a patchy look.

Also, you have to be very careful while applying, especially because it is very sticky in consistency.

About the shades:

I feel that Oriflame has managed to capture majority of the young crowd with their choice of shades, as they range from a very light peach to a bright bubblegum pink and a beautiful deep magenta (I can't stop wearing that one!!!!). Also, even though the shades are very very glossy (which makes it perfect for night and party wear), you can tone them down by just dabbing a tissue lightly, and you are good to go. I did it a lot when I wore the colours during the day.

Staying power:

As with any other lip gloss, the colours will stay for about 3 to 4 hours, IF you do not eat or drink anything. They will also transfer a lot, and very easily too. As the packaging is very tiny and cute, you can easily drop it in your handbag or clutch, or even in your pocket for that matter :)

As you can guess from my face here in the pic above, I love this shade :)

This one below, Purple Rumba, is my absolute favourite of all the 7 shades!

Will I buy again?

The only shade I will probably buy again is the Purple Rumba (the reason being that I am not a fan of the sticky colours). But yes, I definitely want to try out the matte range of the same name.

What's In My New Cathy London Women's Backpack #CathyLondon #Backpack #whatsinmybag #Lakme #Maybelline #SilkyGirl

To be honest, I have been dying to get a proper black bag with amazing studs or spikes for a long time now. But unfortunately, the ones that I see in stores here in India are a huge disappointment, at least to me, and the ones I saw on other sites had super high shipping charges, which I didn't think was worth it.

This backpack is originally priced at INR 3499, but I got it at INR 1570.

So finally, I decided to give this cute black backpack a try. The brand is Cathy London and I have used their bags earlier, so I know the quality is really good. In fact theirs was one of my favourite bags. Also, the fact that I have been traveling a lot lot lot of late and have been using backpacks quite often made it more sensible that I try it out.

The combination of black, the fake leather (I am not sure what it is called) material, the studs and it being a backpack is what did it for me.

I bought it on Amazon, and have used it for about a week now. The first thing that anyone who saw me wearing it said was that they were surprised that I decided to go for a smaller bag, as I am more of a huge tote person, and my bags carry my world. I absolutely love my huge bags, but I am in love with this one now! And they were also quick to mention that it looked absolutely fantastic and chic. I can't agree more.

Check out the studs....aren't they absolutely stunning? The best part is that they are not too in your face, and look really nice, and even though there is some bling, it is not too loud.

The backpack comes with three separate areas - the biggest one at the back, the middle one, and a small one at the front. I was really happy to find that the one at the front was also a functional space, as earlier I thought it was just for show.

The adjustable straps are really cool, as they help you adjust the height you want to wear your backpack at. You can also easily wear it in the front if you are traveling by local transport and want to make sure that everything is safe.

Contrary to what it looks like, the bag can actually fit in a lot and comes with real good space inside. This was a huge surprise, as I honestly did not expect this much space.

It also has another small zipper inside in the main big compartment, which is perfect to store your keys or anything of importance that is small in size and you want to be easily accessible.

This is the front compartment I was talking about. It has a lot of space for smaller objects, and I made good use of it too.

I recently used this backpack as an overnighter. I had gone to meet a friend and ended up staying back at her place. While I did not carry a lot, I did take along enough to help me for a night. Which is exactly why I bought this bag for in the first place, to help me carry enough stuff for a day and night.

So yes, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do, and I can't travel without my lippies. You all know how much I love them. These are the things I stored in the small space you saw at the front.

From L to R:

Lakme Absolute White Intense Wet And Dry Compact in Beige Honey

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Electro Pop Lip Balm Shade Berry Bomb

Lakme 9 to 5 Creaseless Creme Lip Color

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Electro Pop Lip Balm Shade Fierce N Tangy

The chunky lipstick you see is a brand called Silky Girl which I have seen only in Malayasia till date. Their range of matte and creme lip crayons are AMAZING and you should definitely check the website. I have 6 of their gorgeous shades and am still craving for the rest :) Definitely try it out if you can lay your hands on them.

The silver rings I have picked up during my trips to Goa, from the Tibetan markets that have an amazing and very special collection of these finds. The green and white case is for my contact lenses.

This is what I carried in my main compartment. The green bag is a travel bag that I used to keep some things I had to give my friend. The big pouch is my wallet. And the cute thing you see alongside is my key ring that has about 5 different charms on it :)

In the middle space I carried my phone charger, my spectacle case and my Nakamichi ear phones.

I also carried my medicines, a travel size moisturizer from Biotique and a stick of mints.

So you see, even though it looks really small, the bag has a huge amount of space. In fact I also carried a small water bottle in it but that was after I had given my friend her stuff, as else it could have dented the material of the bag.
