Maybelline New York Color Tattoo by Eyestudio in Shade Edgy Emerald: Review

Of course everyone has already tried and tested these out and written lots and lots of blog posts about these - so yes, I may be a bit late in reviewing and talking about these, but still I will ;-)

What I'm gonna talk about today is the Maybelline New York Color Tattoo by Eyestudio in Shade Edgy Emerald.

Packaging: The eyeshadow comes in a small, portable, cute pot with a screw-top lid. The pot is glass and the lid is either hard plastic or metallic (I think its the latter). It's really easy to carry along and as the packaging is quite sturdy, it has no problems of spill or spoil (it's anyways creamy).

Price: INR 350 for 4gms

Shades I Have: (there are 8 shades in the range)
Edgy Emerald (the review is of this one)
Bad To The Bronze
Pomegranate Punk

Texture: The eyeshadow is creamy. One thing you need to make sure is that you don't keep it open for too long. Open the lid, take out the desired amount and immediately close the lid, as the shadow dries out really fast.

The eyeshadow comes with a complimentary eyeshadow brush (I got 3!) :-)

About the eyeshadow:
The colours are really bright and vibrant. A big splash of instant colour on your eyes. Also, as these are highly pigmented, you really need a teeny tiny bit of the product. Apply it over your lids and only if you want a more brighter look, take some more. The eyeshadow can be used both in dry and wet form, but I have used it only in dry form.
Maybelline claims that the colour stays on for 8 hours - it does. But the problem is that though it does stay on for that long, by the end it starts getting a bit cakey and starts settling in in the creases. So be very careful while you're blending and make sure you blend it in really well.
The colours work for daily wear, for party wear and for office wear equally well. You can simply adjust the amount of product and create these different looks.
If you want to keep it simple avoid any liner or mascara. If you really want to highlight the colour, apply liner and mascara (your choice - I never wear mascara).

I've really loved the colours, though the only problem I have is that they dry out real fast and start getting dry and cakey on the eyes at the end of the day. But I still have these in 3 shades and that, from me, means that I really like these :-)

Pros:
  • Reasonably priced given the amount of product it has
  • Sturdy packaging
  • Lovely shades
  • Variety of shades available
  • Bright and vibrant shades
  • Long lasting
  • Easy to use
  • Can be used to create different looks
Cons:
  • Dries out towards the end of the day
Would I recommend this product: Definitely yes...
