5 Natural DIY Homemade Hair Masks for Dry And Frizzy Hair

I've always had horribly dry hair. After my first pregnancy, I started experiencing hair fall and more dryness. Some years back, I was fooled by the hair salon and made to go for a Keratin treatment, which completely ended up burning and ruining my hair! It still remains my biggest hair disasters ever, one that I will regret for life.

Anyways, so now, after my second baby, I can see that my hair has completely gone haywire. What was originally straight and thick and long is now super dry (read fried hair), frizzy and horrible looking (I hate it!!) :-(

I am so scared of any salon treatments now, that I have resorted to start using homemade hair masks. Not only are these cheap, they are super healthy and hydrating, being all natural and chemical free, and are also very easy to make, as almost all the ingredients required are in easy access.

Of course I have to get over the fact of being tremendously lazy and make it......

So, here are the top 5 really easy and super hydrating hair masks that you can make at home and use to treat dry hair:


1. Banana + Coconut Oil + Olive Oil + Honey

Ingredients:
2 over ripe bananas
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp honey

Method:
  • Blend in the ripe bananas and make sure there are no hard bits left. You can either do this in a blender or mash them using your hands
  • Add honey, olive oil and coconut oil
  • Mix well again to form a thick paste
  • Apply this mix on your hair and scalp
  • Keep it on for about 5-15 minutes
  • Rinse off with warm water

2. Banana + Almond Oil

Ingredients:
  • 1 banana 
  • 3 drops of almond oil
Method:
  • Mash the banana and make sure there are no hard or chunky bits left
  • Add 3 drops of almond oil
  • Mix this well to form a paste
  • Apply all over your hair, taking special care to apply over extra frizzy parts and tips of the hair
  • Wait for about 25-30 minutes
  • Rinse off with warm water

3. Egg + Milk + Lemon + Olive Oil

Ingredients
  • 1 egg
  • a few drops of lemon
  • 1 cup milk for waist length hair and 1/2 cup milk for shoulder length hair
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Method:
  • Beat the egg
  • Add the milk and oil and whisk again to form a liquidy paste
  • Add in a few drops of lemon
  • Apply this on the scalp
  • Massage it through the scalp and the hair
  • Leave in for about 15-20 minutes
  • Wash off with lukewarm water using a mild shampoo

4. Egg + Olive Oil

Ingredients:
  • Eggs
  • Olive oil
Method:
  • Beat the egg (you can use the entire egg, both the yolk and the whites)
  • Add about a tbsp of olive oil
  • Beat the ingredients to form a liquidy consistency
  • Add some more oil if you have very thick or long hair
  • Apply this mixture all over the hair
  • Massage thoroughly through the scalp
  • Let it sit for about 25-30 minutes
  • Wash off with lukewarm water using a mild shampoo

5. Coconut oil

This is the most easy method for you to make sure your hair is nourished and taken care of.

Simply warm some coconut oil and massage it thoroughly on your scalp and through the hair. Let it sit for an hour or so, overnight if possible. Wash off with lukewarm water using a mild shampoo.
